RACE FOR A REASON FUNDRAISING RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Registration and Participation
1.1. Athletes who participate and register for Race for a Reason do so under their own premise and must complete their fundraising prior to one year from their registration date. 1.2. The Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) is not responsible for accidents that occur during training for a Race for a Reason designated event, nor for training and travel expenses for the event.
1.3. Challenged Athletes participating in Race for a Reason must adhere to all fundraising rules and regulations.
1.4. Challenged Athletes may register for Race for a Reason to raise funds for grant purposes, however all grant application rules and procedures apply.
2. Selection of Prize
2.1. The fundraiser/participant must notify the CAF of the specific prize for which he/she wishes to be considered based on their level of fundraising on or before one year from their registration date. 2.2. Travel/expenses expenses for the fundraiser may be reimbursed with prior permission from the Executive Director, and only up to 20% of total fundraising.
2.3. CAF reserves the right to deny travel/training reimbursement for any fundraiser.
2.4. Winners may substitute a prize from a lower level.
2.5. CAF reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value.
2.6. Any amount collected in excess of the value of the prize allocated cannot be carried over towards fundraising for prizes or entry fee the following year/s.
3. Obtain Grants in Favor of the Challenged Athletes Foundation, provided that:
3.1. Prior to pursuing any grant request, the Fundraiser Participant furnishes the CAF Executive Director with a complete written proposal, prepared in accordance with CAF's grant request guidelines, for written approval by the Challenged Athletes Foundation. Such written approval shall be in the sole and absolute discretion of CAF.
3.2. If such approval is granted, the grant money must be received by the CAF on or before one year from their registration date.
3.3. The entity providing such grants furnishes CAF with a written undertaking setting forth the exact sum it will pay and the date such payment will be made, which date must be on or by one year from the registration date of the fundraising calendar year in order to receive credit for the sum promised.
4. Obtain Matching funds, provided that:
4.1. Such funds are either received by CAF on or before one year from their registration date.
4.2. The entity providing such matching funds furnishes CAF with a written communication setting forth the exact sum it will pay and the date such payment will be made, which date must be on or before one year from their registration date in order to receive credit for the sum promised.
5. Obtain Donated products, supplies and/or services, provided that:
5.1. Donated products, supplies and/or services will not count towards your fundraising goal unless the CAF has budgeted to purchase that particular product, supply, or service.
5.2. Prior written approval must be received from the CAF Executive Director for the particular products, supplies and/or services.
5.3. In event such approval is granted, fundraising credit shall be awarded in an amount equivalent to the price CAF budgeted to pay for the product, supplies, and/or service.
5.4. Eligibility for the fundraising category as set forth in this paragraph will be in the sole and absolute discretion of the executive director.
6. Disputes
6.1. In the event of any dispute arising from the raising of funds in general shall be referred to the Executive Board of CAF, whose decision shall be final and binding on the parties.
7. General
7.1. Fundraising dollars must be delivered to CAF as Fundraiser Participants receive them. Be sure to clearly mark your name on the donations you send in and we will track your progress. It is highly recommended that you keep your own fundraising records as well.
7.2. If any fundraising dollars are delivered to CAF after the deadline for the current fundraising year credit can be applied to the Fundraiser Participant's next fundraising goal.
